This project will protect, restore, and enhance 10,561 acres of wetlands that provide a critical link between breeding areas in the Prairie Pothole region, migratory stopover areas in the Rainwater Basin, and wintering habitats along the Gulf Coast in Texas. The grantee will restore structures to manage water flows, conserving wetlands, grasslands, riparian areas, and woodlands. This will increase available habitat for waterfowl, shorebirds, wading birds, songbirds, and raptors, including threatened species such as Whooping Crane, Least Tern, and Piping Plover.
This map shows a general area in which project actions will be implemented. At this time, the specific project location and extent is unknown or unavailable. The true project extent is likely much smaller than the focal area.↩
