Project Description

Enhance efforts of the Coastal Bend Bays and Estuaries Program to manage colonial waterbird islands on the Texas coast from San Antonio Bay to the Laguna Madre, resulting in accelerated implementation of specific management actions identified in the CBBEP Colonial Waterbird Rookery Island Management Plan and several other regionaland species-specific plans at 33 targeted locations over a two (2) year period. The project will increase and optimize available nesting habitat and reduce factors commonly associated with nest failure or colony abandonment, resulting in enhanced avian utilization of colonial nesting species impacted by the Deepwater Horizon spill.
