Project Description

Construct approximately 7,550 linear-feet of rock breakwater in the Butterowe Bayou, Oak Bayou, and Dana Cove areas that will protect existing estuarine marsh, sea grass beds, and shallow open water habitat in the area. Project will directly benefit avian and estuarine fishery species and their habitat by protecting approximately 87 acres of existing estuarine emergent marsh, 12 acres of existing sand and mud flats, calm and protect 311 acres of shallow open water, a portion of which supports sea grass beds, and create 15,100 linear feet of hard substrate habitat.
