Project Description
The project enhanced public access to natural resources and increased recreational opportunities at seven sites in the Florida Panhandle: Phase 1 * A parcel at Innerarity Point in Escambia County involved acquisition of a 3.38-acre property and construction of a public park on the property. * A parcel in the City of Destin in Okaloosa County involved acquisition of a 3.42-acre parcel and the construction of a public park on the property. * A parcel in the City of Lynn Haven in Bay County involved acquisition of a 90.7-acre tract and construction of a public park on the property. * Island View Park in Franklin County involved construction of a public park on a 7.3-acre parcel owned by Franklin County. Phase 2 * A parcel in Gulf County involved acquisition of an approximately 6-acre parcel adjacent to Salinas Park and construction of an extension of the public park on the property. Phase 3 * A parcel within the existing Navarre Beach Marine Park in Santa Rosa County in the Florida Panhandle involved acquisition of an approximately 4.75 acre parcel and then donation to Santa Rosa County. Phase 4 * A parcel on Dickerson Bay in Wakulla County involved acquisition of an approximately 81-acre parcel and minor restoration and recreational enhancement. The public parks and additions were donated to the respective local governments with the exception of the Dickerson Bay Addition which was donated to the St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge. The respective local governments were provided with operation and maintenance funds to maintain the Phase 1 and Phase 2 parks for 10 years.
