Project Description
This project consists of four complementary project components that will aid in the recovery of sea turtles: (1) Enhancement of the Sea Turtle Stranding and Salvage Network (STSSN) and development of an emergency response program; (2) Gulf of Mexico shrimp trawl bycatch reduction; (3) Kemp's ridley sea turtle nest detection and enhancement; and (4) Texas enhanced fisheries bycatch enforcement. This multi-faceted approach to sea turtle restoration addresses threats to sea turtles on their nesting beaches and in the marine environment. The implementation period for this project, including all four components is 10 years 2016-2026. The project budget is $45 million.
