Project Description
This project builds on a successful long-term partnership between the Fish and Wildlife Service's Waterfowl Production Area program and NAWCA grants. The project area is in the Iowa portion of the Prairie Pothole Region, an area of continental importance to waterfowl, waterbirds, shorebirds and grassland birds. This project includes enhancement projects on two large marshes providing important spring migration wetland habitats. Activities completed through this project will provide improvements in flood control and water quality through wetland and grassland habitat restoration. Through this project, partners are also improving management of large prairie marshes to benefit migrating birds and provide better nesting and brood-rearing habitats for the birds that breed in this area.
