Project Description
The goal of this project was to restore damage to shallow seagrass beds on lands managed by the Department of the Interior (DOI) National Park Service (NPS) in Florida. The objective was to re-establish seagrass in beds located on the south side of the Naval Live Oaks Preserve at the Florida District of Gulf Islands National Seashore (GUIS) in Santa Rosa Sound. The transplanted seagrass was enhanced through the addition of nutrients and protected with signage and other protective measures as needed. This project did not meet its goal or objective in spite of adaptive management measures taken (replantings, installation of an exclusion fence).
