Project Description
This is phase 13 of an ongoing project to protect wetland and grassland communities in the Missouri Coteau Region of North Dakota. This phase will protect 10,074 acres through conservation easements, and the land will be added to the National Wildlife Refuge System. The grantee will focus on seasonal and temporary wetland basins at risk of being drained, filled, or degraded by agricultural practices. By protecting the native prairie surrounding these wetlands, the project will also conserve nesting habitat and minimize the runoff of harmful chemicals to the wetlands.
