Project Description
From the Grant Award: The Mississippi Wetlands Conservation Initiative II represents the second phase of a series of projects designed to bring partners together to protect, restore and enhance wetlands in the Lower Mississippi Alluvial Valley, with a focus on public lands and strategic conservation easements on private lands. Project activities will help mitigate habitat degradation and ensure the area continues to fulfill its historical role as one of the most important landscapes in North America for continental populations of waterfowl, wading birds, shorebirds and other wetland-dependent migratory birds. Grant and match funds will be used to protect, restore and enhance 2,684 acres on 6 sites in 5 counties.
