Project Description
From the Grant Award: Wetlands in the Lower Mississippi Alluvial Valley support a rich diversity of wildlife species. Through this project, seven partners will protect, restore, and enhance 4,436 acres on state and private lands. Enhancement and restoration activities will increase foraging capacity, nesting and roosting habitat, benefiting 22 species of waterfowl and more than 70 additional species of migratory birds that depend on wetlands for survival. The project will also improve public uses of the Indianola and Mahannah Wildlife Management Areas, supporting hunting, wildlife viewing, hiking, and other nature-based recreational activities.
