Project Description
This enhancement project will maintain habitat conditions on a rich 208-acre wetland complex by maintaining water at suitable levels. The project will ensure improved staging and nesting conditions on 208 acres for 10 oiled species: Least Bittern, Black Tern, Black-crowned Night-heron, Common Tern, Lesser Scaup, Pied-billed Grebe, Semipalmated Sandpiper, Short-billed Dowitcher, Yellow-billed Cuckoo and Mallard1. Another 23 species of priority migratory birds were identified as either utilizing Massetts Marsh for breeding or staging habitat during their migration to and from the Gulf Coast States.
