Project Description

This project will protect, restore, and enhance 10,772 acres of wetlands that provide a critical link between breeding areas in the Prairie Pothole region, migratory stopover areas in the Rainwater Basin, and wintering habitats along the Gulf Coast in Texas. The grantee will restore structures to manage water flows, conserving wetlands, grasslands, riparian areas, and woodlands. This will increase available habitat for waterfowl, shorebirds, wading birds, songbirds, and raptors, including threatened species such as Whooping Crane, Least Tern, and Piping Plover.
