Project Description
This project deployed artificial reefs in Escambia, Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, Walton, and Bay Counties. The project included reef designs that were constructed at various depths in permitted areas within State waters in the Gulf of Mexico. The deep water "nearshore reefs" had five prefabricated modular types deployed within nine nautical miles of shore. Shallower "snorkeling reefs" were piling-mounted structures with disc-shaped concrete and limestone layers, deployed in less than 20 feet deep water and within 950 feet of shore. The work was completed in two Phases (Phase A and Phase B).
