Project Description
The scope of work for this project included conducting a feasibility and planning study for the dredging of the mouth of the Tangipahoa River in Tangipahoa Parish, LA. The project included planning, cost estimating, and identification of the environmental concerns and permitting for such a project. The Parish’s study indicated the feasibility of the Parish doing dredging work itself. The Parish government also had an interest in this matter in relation to improving access to Lake Pontchartrain and increased fishing and tourism opportunities, but the study was required first to determine the impact of dredging, including the environmental effects, the costs, the timeline, and the maintenance. The project benefitted the communities of Tangipahoa Parish on the Gulf Coast. This planning project was funded at $25,000 in Direct Component funds for professional contracting costs associated with the project. There were no subrecipients for this award. The scope of work has been completed.
