Project Description
Mr. Moorman received his M.S. in Natural Resources from Auburn University. He also holds a B.A. in International Studies from the University of Mississippi. His thesis research focused on understanding the fisheries policy process that devolved seasonal management of red snapper from the federal government to the state level in the Gulf of Mexico. His secondary project focused on understanding the successes of conservation governance in the African Kingdom of Eswatini. Mr. Moorman has long been interested in science communication and sustainable management of natural resources. Prior to his research at Auburn, Mr. Moorman served as a Peace Corps Volunteer with the Linking Income, Food, and Environment project in Zambia where he worked with communities as an Agroforestry Extension Agent. Before the Peace Corps, he worked as an Environmental Educator for Patterson Park Audubon Center in Baltimore, MD through the Chesapeake Conservation Corps. His broader research interests include political ecology, cultural anthropology, natural resource management, and understanding what makes effective and successful policy. He is excited to put his research into practice to help inform natural resource decision-making and policy generation.
