Project Description
Dr. Harish Sarma Krishnamoorthy is an Assistant Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the University of Houston (UH). His research interests relate to high-density power conversion for grid interface of energy systems, machine learning-based methods for improvement in quality and reliability of power electronics, advanced electronics, and control for mission-critical applications. Prior to joining the UH, he worked as an Electronics Engineer with GE Energy in Hyderabad, India, and received the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification there. He then went on to be an Electrical Engineer with Schlumberger in Sugar Land, TX. He has also worked with the R&D divisions of Ford and Google. Dr. Krishnamoorthy has over 85 journal/conference papers in refereed publications, one granted U.S. patent, and three U.S. patent applications. He has also co-authored a book chapter under the Institution of Engineering and Technology. He is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and was the Chair of the IEEE Power Electronics Society Young Professionals committee in 2020-2021. He is also an Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics. He is actively involved in the organizing committees of several IEEE conferences, including FEPPCON-2022, APEC-2023, and ECCE-2023. He received the UH Cullen College of Engineering’s Teaching Excellence Award in 2021 and the Research Excellence Award in 2022. He was also named an Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) Emerging Leader by the OTC in 2022. Dr. Krishnamoorthy received his B.Tech. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the National Institute of Technology in Tiruchirappalli, India, and his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Texas A&M University.
