Project Description
This project outlines the use of meiofauna from the Gulf continental shelf to study the environmental impact of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill on the ocean floor. The project unites experts from 2 universities and will continue the meiofaunal surveys of PI Landers and colleagues that began in 2007. Drs. Landers and colleagues thus far have 4 years of meiofauna abundance data from 2007-1010 and are currently working on the 2011 samples that have been collected. This data set represents 3 years of pre-spill data and 2 years of post-spill data.
