Project Description

This project will work to reduce sea turtle bycatch at shore-based recreational fishing sites in each of the 5 Gulf states. Shore-based sites include fishing piers, bridges, jetties, and other shoreline structures. This five-year project will first identify factors contributing to bycatch at shore-based sites through use of angler fishing practice surveys and a review of historical data, then select voluntary bycatch reduction efforts to test at specific sites in the GOM.
