Project Description

The Upper Texas Coast Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Facility project will construct a new sea turtle rehabilitation facility and parking lot at the Texas A&M University at Galveston campus on Pelican Island in the City of Galveston, Galveston County, Texas. The project supports the Sea Turtle Stranding and Salvage Network (STSSN), an established network of federal, state, and private partners responsible for sea turtle stranding response and rehabilitation. The facility will expand regional STSSN coverage on the upper Texas coast and address a network gap resulting from the impending closure of an existing rehabilitation facility. Project activities include engineering and design, construction, provision of equipment and supplies, and monitoring.
