Project Description
Ms. Snider holds a B.S. in Natural Resource Biology from Central Michigan University and is a Ph.D. candidate at Louisiana State University. Her research uses avian diet to understand the ecological response of coastal communities to large scale disturbances, including Hurricane Isaac (2012) and the Deepwater Horizon oil spill (2010). During her time at LSU, she has been awarded the School of Renewable Natural Resources Ben and Pauline Stanley Graduate Student Excellence Award, received an Honorable Mention for the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program, and was selected as a Gulf of Mexico Research Initiative (GoMRI) Scholar. Previously, Allison interned with the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (formerly the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality), which inspired her to pursue a career at the intersection of science and policy and led her to the Gulf Research Program Science Policy Fellowship. Allison plans to continue working in science policy, with the goal of promoting conservation and environmental stewardship that is informed by science, to benefit both society and the natural world.
