Project Description
Ms. Schafer holds an M.S. in marine science from the University of South Florida (USF) and a B.S. in environmental science from Tulane University. Her graduate research focused on carbon cycling in mangrove forests across the globe and how these vital habitats will be impacted by climate change. While at USF, Ms. Schafer also completed a graduate certificate in Teaching and Communicating Ocean Sciences. Over the summer of 2020, Ms. Schafer completed a communications fellowship with the College of Marine Science at USF which allowed her to explore science communication through writing and multimedia. Ms. Schafer is passionate about the intersection of science communication, policy, and research and how these topics can contribute to a society informed by sound science.
