Project Description
Ms. Chapman holds her M.S. in Natural Resources: Environmental Conservation. She also has a Graduate Certificate in Geospatial Science from the University of New Hampshire (UNH) and a B.A. in Environmental Studies from Temple University. Her graduate research focuses on socioeconomic patterns surrounding wetland policy implementation in New Hampshire. This research aims to bring awareness to environmental justice considerations for environmental policy implementation. She was awarded the UNH Dr. Frederick Samuels Scholarship for Diversity in 2019 for her work on diversity initiatives for the UNH Graduate School as a graduate assistant. During her time at UNH, she was a member of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), Xi Sigma Pi, and the Research Communications Academy 2019 cohort. She has been involved in a number of boards and committees, including the Advisory Board for Underrepresented Graduate Students, Chief Diversity Officer Search Committee and UNH Campus Climate Committee. Previously, Ms. Chapman interned with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. House Committee on Natural Resources, U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and the UNH Geospatial Science Center. These experiences have helped develop various skills such as public speaking, data and policy analysis, technical writing, problem-solving, and science communication. Publication: S.T. Chapman, C.M. Ashcraft, K.H. Gardner, and L.C. Hamilton "What Do We Know About What to Do With Dams?" manuscript submitted for publication (2020).
