Project Description
Ms. Bloomberg holds an M.S. in oceanography and coastal sciences from Louisiana State University (LSU) and a B.S. in marine biology at from Northeastern University, where she participated in the Three Seas Program. Her graduate research at LSU focused on coral reproduction over depth, focusing specifically on mesophotic reefs, and the implications for refugia potential in the context of multiple disturbances. She received the Women Divers Hall of Fame Advanced Dive Training Award to complete technical dive training to complete her field work in the U.S. Virgin Islands (USVI). She gained experience working at the intersection of science and policy in a variety of experiences before graduate school, including working on The Nature Conservancy's coral restoration program in St. Croix, USVI. She is interested in continuing to work at this intersection by bridging the gap in communication and research goals between science, management, and local communities.
