Project Description
Dr. Menon is Assistant Professor of Computer Science and Director of the Big Data Analytics Lab of the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH). She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Bangalore, India and a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Mississippi State University. Her lab is directed towards Big Data analytics solutions for multidisciplinary research in remote sensing, computational biology, cybersecurity, and interpretable machine learning for human-machine interaction domains. One of her research projects “Comprehensive Parking Study at the University of Alabama in Huntsville using Airborne sensors” was recognized with the 2nd place in graduate poster category in the 2018 Alabama Science and Technology Open House event (co-sponsored by NSF-EPSCoR), which showcased STEM research across all Alabama institutions. Dr. Menon serves as the faculty advisor for ACM and ACM-W chapters at UAH. Dr. Menon has a strong history of commitment to excellence in education, student mentoring and promoting enrollment of women and minorities in STEM. In this regard, she has been awarded several high-profile recognitions for her contributions towards overall academic excellence, diversity, university and community to include Outstanding Graduate Woman award, Student Hall of Fame and Spirit of State awards by her alma mater Mississippi State University.
