Project Description

Dr. Vikram Kapoor is an assistant professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). His research focuses on advancing water sustainability and its balance with concerns such as nutrient removal and minimizing energy needs, emerging contaminants, and waterborne pathogens; human impacts on dynamic environmental systems; and environmental and public health. His group works at the interface of applied environmental microbiology and environmental engineering incorporating a diversity of research tools such as molecular-based identification techniques, bench-scale bioreactors, bioinformatics, and different omics methods including metagenomics. Dr. Kapoor received his PhD in Environmental Engineering from University of Cincinnati and his Bachelor’s in Biotechnology from Jaypee Institute of Information Technology in India. Before joining UTSA, he worked as ORISE postdoctoral research fellow at the National Risk Management Research Laboratory at the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in Cincinnati, Ohio.
