Project Description
This project is for the construction of an oyster hatchery and research center which will enhance oyster production to benefit the local economy and ecological resources. Direct Component funds will be used for oyster hatchery and research center construction activities and include the necessary aquaculture systems. Hatchery construction activities will occur at the former shrimp aquaculture facility (Invertebrate GrowoutII) site at USM GCRL Cedar Point and involve the rehabilitation and conversion of the site to an oyster hatchery and research facility.
