Project Description

The Gulf Consortium, through its sub-recipient, Hillsborough County, will pursue negotiations to preserve approximately eighty-five (85) acres on the Little Manatee River adjacent to the Cockroach Bay Aquatic Preserve to preserve natural areas and restore altered/impacted habitats. The County has completed preservation of adjoining lands and the proposed acquisition of the Riverton Property on Shell Point Road will complete an ecological corridor comprised of several thousand acres of preserved lands to the north and south of the Little Manatee River. This acquisition will also provide for recreational uses including river access.
