Project Description
Dr. Kirpes holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Michigan and B.S. degrees in chemistry and environmental science from Iowa State University. Her dissertation research used analytical and atmospheric chemistry to investigate ocean-atmosphere interactions and particulate chemistry in the changing Arctic, which took her to field sites in northern Alaska and on an icebreaker campaign to the North Pole. Dr. Kirpes gained a variety of experience in science communication and policy efforts during her graduate studies, including as a member of the 2018-2019 AGU Voices for Science cohort and as a science communications fellow with the University of Michigan Museum of Natural History.
