Project Description

Ms. Brown is a Ph.D. student in interdisciplinary ecology at the University of Florida. Her dissertation research used a mixed-methods approach to analyze stakeholder communications, collaborations, and preferences for oyster management on the U.S. Gulf of Mexico coast. She holds an M.A. in mass communications from the University of Florida and a B.A. in psychology from New College of Florida. Ms. Brown previously served as the first Nature Coast Scholar for the University of Florida’s Nature Coast Biological Station and Florida Sea Grant. She has a certificate in facilitation and conflict management from the University of Florida’s Natural Resource Leadership Institute. She is also the co-founder and current co-director and co-editor of The Marjorie, a non-profit organization that reports on environmental stories in Florida and the Southeast.
