Project Description
The project will reduce pollutant loading and hydrologic degradation in this urban watershed. The project includes restoration of county-owned 2.6-acre wetland; acquisition of 6 acres of land for construction of a stormwater treatment facility; and construction of a stormwater treatment facility to capture and treat stormwater that flows off Olive Road into Carpenter Creek, which ultimately flows into Bayou Texar. The restored wetland will improve habitats and species that depend on wetland habitats, stabilize the soils, and reduce erosion and sediment loading into Carpenter Creek. The project is a companion to the Carpenter Creek Headwater Park recreational project, and both are part of the Carpenter Creek and Bayou Texar Watershed Management Plan.
