Project Description
The original project designed called for the installation of two jetties and a bulkhead at the campground at the Atchafalaya Delta Wildlife Management Area. Through the Engineering & Design phase and the analysis of a multitude of project features, it was determined this project will include a bulkhead, a timber jetty, and piers at the Atchafalaya Delta Wildlife Management Area Wax Lake Outlet campground. The bulkhead is comprised of a 1,222-ft long steel sheet pile wall and a timber jetty which will protect the bank of the campground from erosion. The project also includes two new 55-ft long boat piers. Sediment was borrowed from the adjacent canal and used as backfill behind the bulkhead.
