Project Description

In addition to protecting shorelines, the Shell Belt and Coden Belt Road Living Shoreline project will enhance the growth of planted native marsh vegetation. The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources will employ living shoreline techniques that utilize natural and/or artificial breakwater material to dampen wave energy to protect shorelines, while also providing habitat and increasing benthic secondary productivity.
